Hard PatternWax is an old favorite in the pattern shop for filling nail holes and small dents in wood patterns. It is remarkably easy to use in conjunction with an alcohol lamp and a putty knife. This wax does not soften when in contact with warm sand in the foundry. It can be coated with shellac or any standard pattern coating. It is very light tan in color.
Aluminum Hard Pattern Wax has the same properties as Hard Pattern Wax, except that powdered aluminum has been added to make it ideal for filling holes and defects in aluminum patterns and castings. It hardens instantly and can be machined. The aluminum color makes it less noticeable on an aluminum pattern.
