Aluminum Powder
|
Aluminum powder is a rather unique filler. It will make the surface finish of the resin a lot harder as well as provide good abrasion resistance. You can use this filler to improve the moisture resistance of surface layers. This fine powder-like filler can also be added to shellac or other clear pattern coatings to give the finished surface a hard metallic finish for better wear resistance.
Ren RP-34 is a fine Aluminum Powder (partial size ± 15 microns) which can be added to epoxy or polyurethane compounds. RP-34 is ideal for reducing exotherm, increasing machinability, and increasing casting thickness capabilities.
Remember this filler is gray in color, so you should be careful not to use it if you will be painting with a pale color or white as it may show through. Standard mixing guidelines are up to 10% by volume.
